Boasting an impressively thorough collection of components designed for nearly any style of riding, Wolf Tooth Components is a company every serious cyclist should be acquainted with. As the brain-child of 3 Minnesota based cyclists with a background in engineering, the creation of Wolf Tooth was a way for the three to design and craft their own components that are masterfully tuned to fit the needs of real world cyclists. The result is an intuitive combination of experience and intellect, bringing what we believe to be one of the finest chainring options available to date. Each Wolf Tooth Chainring is 100% designed and manufactured in Minnesota, guaranteeing a high precision quality that is rarely matched in the cycling world.
With the introduction of the infamous 1X set up to the MTB and Cyclocross community, more and more manufacturers have begun producing their own iteration of the variable tooth chainring. Unlike many available designs, we believe that the Wolf Tooth chainrings are crafted to withstand the rigors of nearly any weather and terrain. With a design that’s significantly more robust, yet negligibly heavier that many other options, each Wolf Tooth chainring easily outlasts and outperforms the competition in nearly every category. Utilizing their own “Drop-Stop technology” tooth profile, Wolf Tooth has ideally refined the variable tooth chainring system, thus minimizing any possibility of chain drop/suck, even on the harshest trails.
Wolf Tooth Elliptical Chainrings
Featuring a proprietary 10% ovality, each Wolf Tooth Elliptical chainring offers ideal riding characteristics for those looking for a non-traditional option for increased pedal efficiency. As a result of its ovalized shape, the Wolf Tooth Elliptical chainring makes use of the “dead” spot seen on traditional chainrings. Due to the circular nature of a traditional chainring, power transfer to the rear wheel is inherently uneven, producing noticeable variations in watts throughout the stroke. By slightly ovalizing the chainring, the pedal stroke is smoothed out, resulting in a more consistent transfer of power to the rear wheel. What this equates to in terms of performance is more traction while ascending, as well as higher control and confidence over uneven terrain.
