Filament Spun Evolution (FSE), a next-generation carbon rim manufacturer, uses a precise and efficient computer-controlled manufacturing system to create rims that are stronger, stiffer, lighter, and less expensive than similar rims from other manufacturers. Traditional rim manufacturing methods are highly labor intensive, resulting in increased production costs and potential for defects which can greatly affect rim performance and longevity. Backed by over 5 years of research and development, FSE's proprietary manufacturing and quality control processes ensure consistent, near-perfect production over their entire impressive rim catalog. FSE's precisely-controlled production process evenly applies resin to each carbon strand to ensure a lightweight, void-free carbon cross-section. Beyond their own internal testing, FSE rims are UCI tested and approved for the highest levels of competition.
Shortly after releasing their first set of super-light and super-strong carbon rims, FSE began receiving an overwhelming amount of requests to apply their patented manufacturing techniques and carbon expertise toward the creation of a filament-spun carbon mountain bike rim. With their mountain bike series of rims, FSE has granted these requests; designing and manufacturing lightweight mountain rims that spin up exceptionally fast but are simultaneously incredibly strong. As each strand of carbon has resin individually applied, efficiency and accuracy is greatly increased. The result of this increased efficiency and accuracy is considerably less resin material and waste in the rim, not to mention voids left from uneven application of resin. With less resin and waste build-up, these rims can be manufactured lighter, while also remaining some of the strongest mountain bike rims available. Another benefit of the filament spinning process is increased lateral stiffness; these rims make sharp cornering feel effortless and high speed wobble is virtually eliminated. The XC versions of this rim have a 30mm outer width, a 22mm inner width, and a depth of 28mm, with a weight of 320 grams for the 27.5” (650b) version and 340 grams for the 29” version. FSE mountain rims feature a satin black finish with a visible 3k weave, and are adorned with FSE’s subtle “Ghost Logos” (a translucent white that shows the weave of the carbon under it). Available in 28 hole spoke counts only.
