A well-adjusted front derailleur is crucial for chain retention in most cycling situations. However, in disciplines like cyclocross, where bikes endure substantial jostling and abuse, additional measures are often taken to prevent chain drops. One common solution is using a guard attached to the front derailleur or seat tube.
Far and Near's chain deflector is a standout in terms of weight efficiency. When you swap out the stock steel bolt and concave washer from your front derailleur for this deflector, the weight addition is a mere gram. Crafted from robust 7075 aluminum, these deflectors are aggressively machined without sacrificing functionality. Each package includes a vibrant red anodized bolt and concave washer, while the deflector itself is available in four anodized colors to match your style.
INSTALLATION
To install the Far and Near chain deflector, you'll need a T25 Torx wrench. The deflector is mounted on the front side of your front derailleur's braze-on mounting tab, sandwiched between the provided bolt and washer. When reassembling the front derailleur, be mindful of proper alignment. Consult your front derailleur's mounting instructions for guidance.
