In response to the bicycle industry's Boost axle spacing standard, Extralite has developed these kits to adapt their series of HyperFront and HyperRear hubs to fit newer frames and forks with minimal fuss. These kits include a complete axle assembly, o-ring seals for each axle end, a spacer for the brake rotor, and a set of extra long titanium rotor mounting bolts.
BAK-F - This front Boost axle adapter kit will fit Extralite Hyperfront and HyperJF hubs, converting them from 100 to 110mm axle spacing. The HyperFront's axle ends are press-fit, so they can typically be removed and installed without tools. The rotor spacer and titanium bolts are installed using a T20 torx wrench. This kit retains the original spoke angle of the HyperFront, so no redishing of the wheel is required. This kit adds about 10 grams to a HyperFront hub.
BAK-R - This rear Boost axle adapter kit will fit Extralite HyperRear, HyperRear2, HyperCampber, HyperCamber2, and HyperJR, converting them from 135 or 142 to 148mm axle spacing. With a threaded drive-side axle end, installation of the Boost axle will require a pair of 17mm 12-point combination wrenches. The rotor spacer and titanium bolts are installed using a T20 torx wrench. Additionally, the wheel's spoke tension will need to be adjusted slightly to bring it into correct dish. This kit adds about 9 grams to a HyperRear hub.
