The HyperBoost from Extralite is a prime example of this company's dedication to keeping up with an ever-evolving industry. Rather than simply swapping out the axle on their incredibly lightweight HyperRear to create a Boost 148 compatible hub, Extralite adapted their hub design to take advantage of the increased dropout width. The wider straight-pull spoke flanges are spaced to improve the spoke tension balance between the two sides of the wheel while increasing the wheel's lateral stiffness and overall strength. Internally, the HyperBoost hub retains Extralite's tried-and-true lightweight design, with durable stainless steel bearings housed within an expertly-machined 7075TX aluminum hub shell. The cassette ratcheting system features Extralite's "oversized front engagement," a superlight all-aluminum drive ring with 36 simultaneous points of engagement to allow insanely high drivetrain torque.
The HyperBoost is compatible with Boost 148 frames, and is available in 24, 28, and 32 hole configurations. It requires an appropriate 148x12mm thru axle, and can be equipped with either a Shimano or Sram XD freehub body. To calculate spoke lengths, see Extralite's spoke length table.
Due to the lightweight construction of Extralite hubs, it is recommended that service be performed at frequent intervals to ensure proper function and the longest possible wear life of the internal components.
