For those of you who are looking for Chris King's well known reliability in the form of a road disc hub the search has ended. We all know that disc brakes are an absolute for rainy and muddy conditions and will hold up to the abuse of cyclocross and gravel roads. This makes the R45 a perfect hub for disc brake wheel builds whether loading up panniers and heading into the mountains or lacing a carbon tubular for barriers and mud the search for a hub that will carry you through your adventures stops here.
Chris King is known for making their own bearings in house and as claimed by King the bearing has become the stuff of "legends." This is for good reason, the King bearings are sealed to near perfection, keeping as much dirt, water and mud out gives the R45 the longevity that King is now famous for. All this, and in the end, your hub set is made in Portland OR and backed with a 5-year warranty.
The R45 disc hub does not come with a lockring. When purchasing a locking you need the 15mm oversized locking type to clear the collar and 16.5mm axle.
The R45 disc hub, like the standard R45, is lightly serviceable with standard home mechanic tools. For a full service including bearing replacement requires Chris King's R45 Hub Service Tool.
