The eeSilk, from American component manufacturer Cane Creek, is a re-imagined version of their Thudbuster suspension seatpost. Originally designed for use on hardtail mountain bikes to add comfort and control, the Thudbuster features a parallel linkage to align the saddle's travel direction to the opposite of the rear wheel's upward path when a bump is encountered. An elastomer placed within the linkage provides natural compression and rebound damping, and is easily serviced and custom-tuned for rider weight.
The eeSilk is Cane Creek's lightest suspension seatpost, with a short 20mm travel that is especially applicable to the emerging adventure and gravel cycling disciplines. By miniaturizing and refining the original Thudbuster design, Cane Creek's engineers were able to shave 150 grams from the seatpost without sacrificing its function or durability. This includes the addition of titanium hardware and premium lightweight self-lubricating bushings. Just like its longer-travel predecessors, the eeSilk features a replaceable elastomer so that the seatpost can be tuned to rider weight. The three included elastomers will accommodate riders from 100-260 pounds. For riders outside of this weight range, Cane Creek offers two additional elastomers that may be purchased separately.
By adding comfort and compliance to reduce fatigue and improve control, the eeSilk will allow riders to travel farther and longer with only a small weight penalty.
The eeSilk is available in just one diameter and length: 27.2 x 350mm. Cane Creek offers a full line of seatpost shims to adapt the eeSilk to larger diameter seat tubes, making it compatible with nearly all bicycle frames.
