KCNC's heavily CNC machined cantilever brakeset is the absolute lightest-weight brakeset available for cyclocross bikes. Drawing from the basic design of their linear pull brakes, KCNC has managed to manufacture these brakes almost entirely from aluminum. In fact, the steel return spring and titanium pad mounting bolt are the only non-aluminum parts on the calipers. Included are two complete sets of M8 and M10 aluminum brake studs, which can save an additional 25 grams when replacing stock steel brake studs.

KCNC partnered with pad manufacturer Swiss Stop to provide high quality pads for these brakes. Swiss Stop's high performance compound strikes the best compromise between all out stopping power, modulation range, and pad wear life. The resulting brake response from these calipers, when correctly installed, favors the racer, with excellent speed control and enough all out power to allow for the occasional emergency stop. Following the industry trend, a road style pad holder is used for maximum convenience in adjustment and pad replacement.

Installation
As with most cantilever brake designs, we recommend patience for the installation process. Proper assembly and setup may take up to an hour for the complete brakeset. All threaded parts and aluminum-on-aluminum contact points should be lubricated with a high viscosity grease prior to assembly to allow proper operation and prevent corrosion.
