Using strict manufacturing tolerances and good quality control, HED has produced a near perfectly round rim with extremely parallel machined braking surfaces. Using such tight tolerances allows for wheel builds with better spoke tension balance, increasing the longevity of the build. A nearly imperceptible welded rim seam and wide cross section ensure a high strength-to-weight ratio and maxiumum wheel life. Prior to machining, the rim surface is bead blasted and black anodized for a clean, elegant look. The applied Belgian flag decals are reflective for added safety when riding in low light situations.

An additional benefit of the Belgium's wide 23 mm sidewalls is improved tire performance. Spreading the tire beads allows a tire to keep a more consistently round profile, improving ride quality, aerodynamics, and cornering response. Wide road tires and cyclocross tires are also more safely mounted on wider profile rims.
