That loks super clean. Love the wheels on it, and the BMW theme. Did the topcap come with the frame?

frame is bmw Q8.r, and top cap belongs to that bike. bike has been usually with dura-ace groups but i´ve seen with campa too.

yes over 2tons of wheels, not so popular in 2011. have to be 1-1.4tons

not so hilly sections here so i just enjoy riding without truing wheels, i´m happy with these

Which particular patent did this come from? I'm interested to see if there are schematics for the other wires for a project I am doing.

Another question, I'm a chemical engineer so all these electrons are confusing.

Using the colour coding above, what did you connect to each of your buttons?

I'm making my own satellite shifters so have bought some Omron B3S 1002 buttons (should I have bought the grounded version?), and I have also bought a spare cable so I have the plug that goes into the right hand shifter.

I figure I need the Red +7VDC going to both buttons, but after that I'm not sure what I connect the other terminal to.

rd:

black/green=up
red/green= down

fd could be

white/black= up
red/white= down

at least rd is correct and logically fd is correct too

I kinda need some help! I'm trying to hook up a climbing shifter directly to the front wire but i don't where to start. The climbing shifter has 3 wires (purple, grey and yellow) and the front wire has 4 wires for each side (black, blue, green and red).

For the 4 wires on the front harness, there are only 3 that you need to connect to: the common ground, then the positive one for each button. When I hooked up my custom buttons I just used trial and error to figure out which was which, although the diagram above can help you out. Actually, if you have the front harness plugged into the Di2 system, if you "briefly" touch pairs of wires together it shift your derailleur - that will tell you which wires do what. Then unplug the battery and connect your wires (just twist "em), then plug the battery in and test the buttons.
