WHERE TO RIDE NEAR MADRID

I'll be in Madrid this coming March and need some input about where I might do some riding on mountainous terrain. Would be willing to travel 1 hr to ride destination. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Spain;not in Madrid but I can give you some ideas

Madrid is not the best place to ride in Spain to say at least...

Here are some options;

These are official and popular rides;

-MARCHA PERICO DELGADO; 165km (this is the official ride in honor to Perico Delgado;a great 80s-90s climber)

It starts in Segovia (around 1 hour from Madrid) and it's very famous; it's very hilly but the last 50-60 km are very favorable

-MARCHA CICLOTURISTA PUERTOS MADRID

148 km.Similar to Perico Delgado but it starts and finish in San Sebastian de los reyes (30 min near to Madrid)

Here two nice options:

Both starts in EL BERRUECO (65km from Madrid); I think is a good place to start the ride,near to the mountains and you can adapt the ride to you(depending of time,weather or your conditions)

Javier, many thanks for responding to my post and taking the time to put together multiple options for rides!!! You are gracious. I am familiar with Delgado. The Perico climb and it's historical significance would make a great memory. However, since my post my plans have changed focus. The emphasis now will be on sight seeing with my family. So I will not be bringing my bicycle. Maintaining fitness will be restricted to the hotel gym. We may travel to Segovia for sight seeing. If so I will hike the climb. At least in this way I can experience it's aura.
