No one did the Merry Christmas Thread?

Come on guys- you can't leave it to the one (I think) Jewish guy on the the forums to start this thread-- unless I missed it-- so here's some of this year's trials and tribulations for one in the religious minority teaching high school--

every year I get the usual questions-- You really don't celebrate Christmas? You don't have a tree? You don't put lights up on your house? These are usually followed by questions about what I do on Christmas. I answer them- we have fun (mostly because I'm a smartass)

I say things like-- "You guys have some great holiday traditions-- let's see- take a dead, dried up tree in your house and string it up with 220-volts, then light some candles. Oh, silly christians." They like that one. One year, a completely ignorant child, upon hearing me tell my students I don't celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Hannukah instead, announced, "Oh, your Hannukan?" That was funny. There have been others, but the banter is really a lot of fun-- this year, they really fed off of it--

One girl came into class and offered me a holiday cookie, but said, "You should take a christmas tree cookie, it will fill that empty space in your heart." I laughed, then told her I'd be grading her test in about 40 minutes.

Another continued with the Jewish questions and asked if my wife was Jewish too. I told her yes- she said,"Awww, that's so cute, now you can be Jewish together." I looked at her, walked out of the room for 10 seconds, walked back in, laughed, looked at her and said, "You're an idiot." We all cracked up and then went on with the lesson.

I swear I've gotta write a book.

On that note- I hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Christmas (or whatever else you might celebrate) and a Happy New Year-- we're leaving for Disney World tomorrow!

Funnily enough I get exactly the same questions and I'm not Jewish! I just get called "humbug"
