I finally finished my Cervelo SLC build. It has been rebuilt a few times now but this is the almost final version. Main goal will be to have the build just under 13 lbs. So a few small stages to go.

Great looking re-build. Nice component selections. As you wrote somewhere, there's no reason to stick with an entire grouppo.

I have to ask about the tubes. First, there's not much stem exposed. Second, why no Challenge latex tubes?

Challenge latex tubes will be on order in the near future. The valve extenders I bought were too long and when I inflated the tubes I just removed them since there is no need to have them on there.

Second, why no Challenge latex tubes?

I thought the reason may have been having to inflate them every few days!! I have Michelin latex tubes on my Storck and for riding they're perfect but I always get to that moment where I'm just about to get on the bike at home and..... forgot to put air in the tyres

I will have some addition picture up in the next few days of the RD, Cranks and such.

The build is not 100% complete yet as I will be changing out the bar tape to Deda, cutting the bars and seat post and will have to look at a few other options to get this baby to 12.99 lbs which is the ultimate goal. I have a few options to go from 6010g down to 5890g. A loss of 120g without spending a crap load of money. Not that I haven't already.

I do have to give some props out to ZIPP for the cranks. I bought them used and when they arrived the metal where the bolts attached had become delaminated. I was able to contact ZIPP and sent the cranks directly to them. Upon inspection the bond on both crank arms had come loose and the sent me a brand new set of cranks out within 48 hours. I was not the original purchaser and got a very good deal on these cranks buying them used. I am very happy with the way Zipp handled the situation and I will be looking to buy more of their products in the near future.

Stephen - I was going to take the red off of the shift lever but then was thinking of sanding down the complete lever and redo the clear coat leaving just white on the front lever. In the end I did not know what to do so I just left them. One day I will take the levers apart and sand them down. I downloaded the manual and it seems very simple remove the levers and put them back together. One day my friend.

P.S. The carbon chainrings and carbon spacer for the rings are awesome as usual. I will have to find another project to buy some items off of you again. Carbon chainrings are a must for all my road bikes now. Even the single speed I am rolling these days.

That's a really good looking bike! Very nice build--I hope you enjoy riding it.
Those FL chainrings are fabulous.
I sanded my Red shift/brake levers without taking them off the bike. I just wet sanded them. Didn't take long and then finished with some clear nail polish.

I have been sanding down all my cranks and was going to do the Zipps as well but I like that the white ties in nice with the overall build. With the cranks, I have been wet sanding them with 400, 800, 1200 and spraying them 2 times with a quick sanding of 2000 between with them being heated in my oven at 180 degrees for drying. This has worked out very well with the cranks, cages and rear derailleur. I might do the wet sanding and just mask off the botton and spray them without the heating process. I would then just use a cut wax to remove the bumps and such.

How are the aluminum bowties holding up? I've been thinking of getting some for my next build (frame shows up this week!).

The Fizik looks really good on there too, just the right touch of white on it.
