TREK 8900 SL-disc-brake-mount-bracket-need-your-help-please

I hope that got your attention...

I have this TREK 8900 SL as some of you know.

I've decided to mount disc brakes, as driving in muddy conditions and V-brakes don't quite add up...

Here's the problem though:

The brackets on the frame look like this:

There is 23mm center to center between the holes.

The brake caliper looks like this:


There is 73mm center to center between the holes

I have this bracket to put on the caliper:

I just not sure I can use this...

I realize that there is a solution that look like this:

I really don't like the looks of this very much, but if that's what it takes, I will be willing to mount it.

Is there another way, or do I have to mount this badboy?

I did, just to be perfectly sure - not that I don't trust CYCO - I actually do but as I won't be ordering anything the next week due to a trip with a public school, I might as well hear their point on the case too.

I am new to this forum just registerd to ask you a question, I have seen that you were looking for information back in 2006 on what rear mount bracket you needed for 8900.

I have just decided to get disc brakes for mine and am faced with the same problem! I appreciate it was a while ago and this is an old thread, but did you ever get it resolved? Did you ever source on?

A2Z makes an adapter. Please llok for it or call your trek dealer. They should be able to help with it.

Hi KF,
I realise this reply may be a bit late! However i have this if it helps...

The one on the bike has washers for packing and just kisses the weld. The new revised one has the extra packing built in with extra clearance for the weld.

The disc is a 185 dia as the triangle is too small for anything smaller!
