Hope that everyone in the NE is doing OK. Mike K.: You have that S&S bike now, so at least getting on an airplane has gotten easier/cheaper...

I do not know if it is less expensive than a traditional full size hard case. I paid $80 US from Kennedy airport to Prague with online excess bagage check. It would have been $100 US if I checked the case at the airport.

But I had no problem with fitting it into cabs in Prague and later Barcelona. So I have that advantage over a larger case.

Thanks for your concern-all is well. My house was untouched-in fact I had more tree damage from the storm in October of 2012.

P.S. It takes me about 2 hrs to pack my bike. A person who is less preoccupied with minute details than I could probably cut down the time considerably!

I'm in Dutchess (Pawling) and I've been out on the bike a few times and it seems as if north of me is getting back to normal.

Sorry! I was thinkin' Pawling was in Putnam when I made my remark about the climbing.

Here are a couple of sights I passed while riding one of my routes from Northern Westchester County, NY, to Putnam County, NY, six days after Hurricane Sandy hit. The roads were surprisingly clear except for the downed power line which was easily negotiated with a quick dismount. Hopefully it's been repaired by now and homes near it have power once again! All things considered clean up has been slow and steady.
