I did my first 20 min threshold test climb of the year on a climb that averaged over 10% with max pitches of 20%. I almost passed out at the top. It was beautiful!

And I have lost 10# in 2 months!

So I got 60 miles in (OUTSIDE) today. Lots of hills, about 5000 vertical feet. I'm not used to ramping it up this early in the year, but man, I am tired! I'm also below my summer riding weight!

1- winter has been rather mild
2- high school teacher-- can't take that kind of time off - come to think of it, I've taken exactly 1.5 days this year. One for religious observance - according to the GOP (and/or Fox News), we're a Christian Nation, I'm still on team Moses and the other my son was sick and I had to pick him up halfway through the day. Never understood the whole "mental health" days people take- it's more stressful to take a day off from school than it is to be there.
3- I'm off in the summer, that's the time to take a vacation!

seriously, I love my job, but I'm really starting to consider a job in data analysis or actuarial work in the next few years.

Off to Delaware for the Icicle- it's a 63 miler, I met a group who breaks off at mile 32-33 and does the old (original) 100 mile route back in 1999, and I've only missed 2 years of it. Gives me a reason to get going on the bike each year. Down to 150lbs (I need some new belts), did an 81 miler last sunday and of course it's been in the 80's the last few days, but on Saturday we're looking at 70-80% chance of rain and temps in the 60's, maybe lower 70's. F---ing weather! Oh well, I think half of the years I've done this it's rained for a good portion of the ride- it hasn't been this warm in about 5 years.
