MSC w/Di2

Postby madcow on Thu Oct 29, 2009 2:32 pm

Since the first Di2 based bike worked out well, I thought it was time to improve on it and make something that I wanted to ride as a daily rider.

The frame is an MSC Koncept Carbon. The weight for this frame in a med was an incredible 1631grams including the rear Monarch shock. I love the internal cable routing for all the lines through the frame. It's a shame that I can't take advantage of them fully with Di2, but the trade is worth it.

The frame performance is really nice. Solid, stable, agile and very light. The original build called for it to be right at the low 17 pound mark, but in building it I stopped short of installing much of what I had for it(German A Carbon Kilo, Tune Saddle, Schmolke Bar, 310 tires, etc...) In the end what I ended up with is an 18.8 pound daily rider that doesn't require any worry about fragility.

For the current build it looks like this:
Frame: MSC Koncept Carbon
Fork: R-7 MRD
Headset: Kcnc Radiant R1
Stem: Kcnc Flyride
Bar: Kcnc Scbone
Grips: Extralite
Brakes: Magura MagSL with Kcnc rotors
Rims: Edge Carbon
Hubs: Soul Kozak
Spokes: CxRay
skewers: Kcnc
Tires: Speedking
rear derailleur: Shimano Di2
front derailleur: Shimano Di2
front deralleur mount: Parlee carbon
Chain: Kmc X10SL
Crank: Kcnc Ktype
Chainrings: Extralite Gara 28/42 double
cassette: Shimano custom 11-32
Pedals: Look
Seatpost: Kcnc Ti Pro Lite
Seat: Specialized Phenom
Seat collar: Kcnc SC11
Bottle Cage: Tune/Btp

Needs EE cranks.

Creepy light though.

What are your thoughts on the R7?

Nice! :D

It may be my eyesight but the photo gives the appearance that the bike has quite a long wheelbase? Could be an optical illusion caused by the frame shape? :dunno:

Amazing bike - I was thinking of buying me a MTB, but I guess I won't - the thoght will always be : "why the hell am I riding this, and not that über-sweet MSC that Madcow rides.."

Hope the ride is as cool as the looks.

I love carbon bits, and I can not lie! You other brothers can't deny, when a bike comes in with alot of carbon bits and some cool wheels in your face, you get sprung!

So far not many. I haven't really noticed the fork, which is a good thing. I guess if I don't have any complaints about it, I must like it. Ask me again after the winter and we'll see if I have any complaints then.

KF, I know winters there can be pretty tough, so if you want to get away from the cold you're welcome to come here and spend some time riding my bike in our nice warm winters. It should be in the mid 90's today.

That thought definetly deserves a thought. :D

"No, Mr. customs officer, of course I didn't buy any of those bikes is the US. I really brought all those bikes from Germany for a training camp."
