That plotter doesn't see much use. It's a color one & we only use it when the big fast plotter/scanner goes down, which isn't very often.

The SLC-SL is the new bike & for the 1st time in almost 5 years I'll actually be keeping a bike for more than a year. I've been on it all season & it's probably the most perfect bike for me. I can't think of a single component that I would want to upgrade. Well, just one, but I'll discuss that when I get around to posting the bikes.

When I had my own structural engineering firm my clients were either contractors or architects. If the client was a contractor then the engineer was always right. If the client was the architect then the architect was always right. Now that I work for a huge company doing a different branch of structural engineering (no more designing buildings) the engineer is always right & nobody argues with the engineer.

What do you design now? Tunnels? Bridges?

Nice collection of jerseys and even nicer bike. I've been banned from bringing my Storck into work after my boss knocked over my daily ride and damaged it. He's worried about doing the same to a more expensive bike!

A plotter is basically a more accurate version of a printer. Rather than using a print head, these usually use very fine tipped pens and actually draw the lines on the paper rather than printing them. With a printer the paper simply gets pushed through printing along the way. With a plotter, the paper is moved constantly in and out while the pens draw the lines. You mainly find them where companies are using CAD systems for drawing i.e. mechanical/structural engineers, architects, electricians, electronics etc.

I watched a program on the building of that 'bridge in the sky' in France and one thing amused me no end. The engineers originally looked at the architects plans and told him there were easier ways of doing things. The architect told the engineers that he wanted it building exactly as per his plans and they would have to find novel solutions if they had any problems. He didn't offer any technical help though. The engineers came up with some wonderful, brilliant ideas and got the bridge built. Then the architect came along and took all the credit.

Damn architects. Gotta love 'em though!

When I designed my house (that we don't have any more) I was having fun playing architect with my plans. I couldn't figure out a good layout for the area set aside for the master bath & closets. I finally cracked & brought the plans to an architect friend. I kid you not in 30 seconds he had it sketched out for me. Damn architects...

If that's credit for your bikes, I'll let that one slide as you're good at that. Anything else and you've got an engineer to deal with!
