English Cycles build *FINISHED* 6040g!

I found some time to weight the seat post parts tonight and this is what I found.

Stock upper and lower cradle 50g
Stock bolts 22g

Carbon upper and lower cradle 24g
Ti bolts 12g - will order these from Toronto Cycles in the next week.

So a total weight saving of 36g on the post to bring down the weight to 96g which will be nice.

Headtube: True Temper VERHT2, custom externally butted, 0.9/0.7
Toptube: True Temper S3, 28.5mm, 0.51/0.4/0.51
Downtube: True Temper HOXPLAT09, 34.9mm, 0.7/0.4/0.7
Seattube: 28.6mm 0.9mm straight gauge 4130, custom externally butted
Chainstays: True Temper S3, 28x20 tapered oval, 0.51 straight gauge
Seatstays: 9.5mm 0.7mm straight gauge 4130
Wishbone: 12.7mm 0.8mm straight gauge 4130 ovalised

frame is all together now; just need to machine the cable stops and do the finishing work on the joints. If all goes well I hope to have it painted next weekend, so aiming to ship at the beginning of next week.

I would have thought the builder would have reinforced / gusseted the top of the top tube though, with those three big holes ...

The shape of the seatstays is gorgeous, and the cable exit at the rear dropout is fantastic as well. This is going to be a great bike!

So she is all painted; just waiting on the decals and the ti bolt before I can ship. But here are the weights:

Before paint: 1282g
After sandblasting: 1276g
After powder coating: 1302g

The frame is slightly lighter than my gold one, and considering the extra cable routing stuff I think that is pretty good!


Rob will be sending pictures once the decals are on so I am very excited to see the finished product and of course in person.

I know pretty crazy hey. It is only 130g heavier than my SLC which means that if I can get the SLC to 5870g I will be able to get English frame under that.

The nice part is that the seat post on the SLC is 145 but the stubby on the English build is only 96g so there is 50g back on the build. Also the fork will be lights as well by going with the EDGE (ENVE) 2.0 instead of the 3T
