it is perfectly level when the bike is level. In the pictures the bike was on a stand that had it up a couple of inches.

Victoria has a tentative surgery date set for the 22nd of June. My friend who told me that the repair is easy has agreed to help me do it. I just have to order some parts. I will be sure to take pictures of each step of the repair for you guys.

Did you upload these? I'm about to do some carbon repair/modifying myself and would very much like to see a step-by-step guide on how you repaired the damage on the bike?

How does the repair hold up?

Repair is holding up great. I didn't get all the pics I wanted though as I was so enthralled with the process that I didn't even think about it till we were done.

Mine was a simply crack, and the process wouldn't work for some of the more severe cracks or destroyed tubes that I have seen. I sanded it and got the dremel out to make sure the crack would be able to accept the epoxy in it. I cut a single piece of carbon cloth to just wrap the tube a bit more than one time (a bit of cloth overlap). Then I mixed the epoxy and used a paint brush to coat both sides of the cloth (making sure it got into all the weaves of fiber). Then (wearing gloves) wrapped the tube, using the brush with epoxy over it to lay flat. Then wrapped the shrink tape around it, spiral style. Taped the end of that to the frame with packing tape. Then finally hit it with the heat gun to shrink everything tight and let the epoxy cure. I waited till the next day to unwrap the shrink and then sanded the excess epoxy. Finally, I sprayed a couple of coats of clear into it. Done!

So, after more than 2 years of riding with my custom shift buttons taped to a piece of plastic and taped to the backside of the brake lever, I have finally mounted a permanent solution. Victoria is now a little less ghetto.

I bought a left Campy shift paddle to mount to the right brake lever and cut the top half off. I then filed it down to get the fit right and finally glued the buttons to the paddle. By using the left paddle on the right lever the buttons stay hidden behind the brake lever. The positioning of the buttons is a bit different than how I am used to so it will take a bit to get used to it, but 2 rides down and it's almost natural again.

And I epoxied the paddle to the lever, so I had better get used to it.

The result is MUCH cleaner than before.

That version 1.0 is actually going to go on my cyclocross bike. The big buttons will be good if I have to wear gloves.
