Prolific composite manufacturer Enve has thrown its hat into the ring and fully committed to the use of disc brakes in cyclocross. The new format has met many challenges by alternate manufacturers, and Enve has answered with many clever, well engineered features. Rather than adapting the brand's cantilever designed fork and simply adding a post mount for disc breaks, Enve has angled forward the dropouts in an effort to eliminate axle movement while braking, as well as utilized a 160mm post-mount design in order to capitalized on the larger rotor's better modulation and braking power. Additionally, the fork's left leg has a molded cable groove, and a cleverly included a composite clip which eliminates the need for any exterior form of cable securing. This makes for a clean, elegant design.
Separating themselves from other manufacturers, Enve's Disc Cross fork is hollow from one inch above the dropouts, all the way through the crown to the steerer. They also remove all bladders and molding devices after the construction process to ensure low weight. The fork is completely carbon besides the post-mount threading.
Please note that this fork has a 1.5 inch tapered steerer tube, and thus is only compatible with frames accepting the format.
Due to the specific tools required, we recommend that Enve forks be installed by a professional mechanic.
