Details
The Enve 65 clincher rim may be ideally applied to several cycling disciplines. Perhaps the most obvious application, owing to this rim's deep cross section, is in races against the clock. A deeper rim is nearly by default more aerodynamic; airflow is smoothed over a larger area and less spoke length is exposed to the wind. Additionally, at 65 mm, the depth is more modest than other manufacturers' offerings, avoiding complications that can arise in strong crosswinds. This large cross section also helps to create a wheel that possesses greater overall stiffness, an excellent trait in the constant accelerations and aggressive cornering encountered in criterium or cyclocross racing. To top it all off, the 65 is no heavyweight and would certainly not preclude the possibility of riding fast uphill.
Using a proprietary molding process in which the spoke holes are molded and not drilled, Enve has created a spoke interface that permits the use of higher spoke tensions without compromising the integrity of the rim. And not only does the spoke interface allow for higher tension, it is designed to enhance the durability of the wheel as a whole by limiting spoke fatigue. The result is a low maintenance, long lasting, and highly durable wheel. Other features of Edge's unique molding process include an elevated brake surface for optimized braking performance and longer rim life, and impact resistant sidewall construction for overall durability.
Each 65 clincher rim includes an Enve rim strip, a 55 mm valve extender, the required Pillar internal spoke nipples, and a pair of Enve's proprietary brake pads - please indicate upon purchase whether Shimano or Campagnolo style pads are required.
