About Enve Composites
In late 2010, Edge Composites announced that they would be changing their company name to Enve Composites. This change was initiated to avoid trademark infringement issues in Europe. Internally, Enve remains the same cutting-edge composites manufacturer with no changes in ownership, management, or staff. Expect great things from Enve in the coming years as they move into a new, state-of-the-art production facility and begin a rollout of new products based on collaboration with the world's top aerodyamics specialists.
Enve's UST series represents the next evolution of their line of mountain rims. In modifying the rim bead and tire channel to conform with the industry leading tubeless standard developed by Mavic, Enve has pushed their product into the forefront of cycling technology. Now a product that was both lightweight and incredibly stiff and responsive also allows for the use of tubeless tires which decrease rolling resistance, increase traction, and allow for a lower range of tire pressures without the risk of pinch flatting. And best of all, this new design features no weight penalty over the previous non-tubeless design.
Enve XC rims are strong, building into a much stiffer wheel than standard cross country aluminum rims. Durability is also an asset, with a special sidewall laminate and wide 24 millimeter rim width, further increasing strength. Enve says that aluminum counterparts "pale in comparison", and we couldn't agree more. These rims build in to some of the stiffest, lightest, and strongest wheels we've assembled.
Included with each Enve XC rim is a sealed tubeless valve and a roll of tubeless rim tape. As with most tubeless rims, Enve's XC UST rims are also compatible with standard tube and tire setups.
We recommend that wheels built with Enve rims be assembled by an experienced wheelbuilder. We are happy to provide this service, and can provide helpful suggestions in hub and spoke selections. Please contact us directly or submit a custom wheel build request here.
