Simply put, these wheels represent an

builders at Fairwheel Bikes have brought together the very best parts
available to create a superb set of wheels utilizing Edge 1.38 carbon
tubular rims, Extralite SL/SR hubs, and DT Swiss aerolight spokes.
This translates in to a wheelset
without compromise. For starters, the Edge 1.38 rims are extremely
light at 272 grams, while maintaining an aero profile of 38mm.
However, strength, stiffness, and durability are not lost on them.
We've laced 24 of DT Swiss's Aerolight spokes to the Edge
rim.
Edge utilizes a proprietary method in the fabrication process, where the spokes are molded and not
drilled. This allows a higher spoke tensioned to be wound than
possible on competing carbon rims. Consequently, the end wheelset is
strong and dependable, while increasing spoke fatigue life, and
braking performance.
We haven't come across hubs much
lighter than the Extralite's, that don't sacrifice a critical
performance attribute. When hubs get much lighter, they generally
utilize micro-bearings, which have a higher drag and lower life.
Extralite uses and oversized axle, an extra hardening process for
radial lacing, and they're strong enough for cross-country use, all
while weighing in at just 162 (SR) /62 grams (SL) rear/front respectively.
