That looks like a gorgeous ride! The weather sounds better than the boiling heat that I am dealing with here lately.Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?June 27, 2013 at 2:25 pm #94129

I had my 9 year old Rocket 7 custom shoes re-done with new leather uppers. I can’t wait to ride with them!
I just got these on the scale and for the pair they are 270 grams lighter than my Sidi Genius 6.6 shoes.

Very nice. I always wanted one of those. Gorgeous bike.June 22, 2013 at 10:06 pm #94066
Ah. I didn’t know that. I had a custom bike before and it was great, but the reason that I got it was that I wanted a 71 degree seat tube angle. I am back to a standard geometry saddle position now so I don’t see the point in going custom. Unless it was for the paint, which could be a possibility.
I went to a shop today in Las Vegas that had a new C59 frame on the wall. I got to look the thing over and it was REALLY nice. The guy at the shop had his bike there (in my size) and he offered me a ride on it, but I don’t have my shoes or shorts with me. The next time I am in Vegas (maybe next month) I will bring that stuff and coordinate a test ride on that thing.June 22, 2013 at 7:05 pm #94064

New 52t chainring for Victoria. The previous carbon ring lasted me about 18 months, but it was time for a new one.June 22, 2013 at 7:02 pm #94062

It would have Campy brake levers.
And regarding that re-painted S5 – where did you get it painted from? That is GORGEOUS!!!!!!June 21, 2013 at 7:07 pm #94054
I thought that as well – but what about Di2? Then I would have to route the cables externally and that might take away from the sexiness. But if I could find one in a paint scheme that could hide that it would be worth considering.
Yes, that’s an option for sure.June 21, 2013 at 2:59 pm #94050
The Venge is an absolutely no. One of the main reasons that I want something new is so that it’s more comfortable that what I am riding now, but also better when out of the saddle. Luckily there is a very nice bike shop close to my house (Davis Wheelworks) that carries BMC, Cervelo, Felt, Colnago, Pinarello, & more). I had a long talk to a guy there and after talking to him it sounds like the new BMC SLR01 is a heck of a bike and would fit the bill for what I am looking for, but it’s a BB86 bottom bracket.
Concerning the Praxis BB conversion – it looks like it just works with PF30, so it wouldn’t work with the BMC. I do like the look of the BMC – especially the new 2013 one. And it is ready for Di2 internal wiring, which I find essential. A point that the guy from the shop made was do I really want to base a new frame purchase around a crankset. And I think that I do. My SRM was custom and I really love it, but, it has the old style crank arms so I could certainly gain some stiffness with something a bit more modern. It has to be 165mm though, so the only options are Dura-Ace or Rotor. A new SRM will set me back $2000 though.
The shop has offered me a good test ride on anything they have in stock in my size, so I will check out the BMC as well as a S5 and R5. If I fall in love with one of those then I need a new crankset though.
Otherwise the leader in the clubhouse is a Colnago C59. The shop can get me one, but they don’t have one that I can test ride. So my only option is to wait until early August when I will have the ability to ride a friend’s.June 19, 2013 at 6:11 pm #94021
It turns out that I will have to get a bike with a standard BSA bottom bracket or I would have to get a new SRM, which isn’t an option. So a BMC is out. The Venge is out too.June 19, 2013 at 2:16 pm #94006
Very nice. I love the Oreo bikes.June 19, 2013 at 2:14 pm #94005
That’s just gorgeous. I love the paint. You need to get some pedals on there though.

I can’t believe that you have a bike that weighs just over 11 pounds. That’s just insane to me. And it’s a bike that you can ride everyday and not worry about. Awesome. Just awesome!
