I’m looking for advice on updating, lightening, and making an old 38 lb. aluminum frame tandem more aero without breaking the bank. The goal is to fashion a speedy machine for fast group rides and charity events with updated components.

    Components:
    quill stem
    threaded headset
    Campy cantilever brakes
    alloy American Classic seatposts
alloy drop bars that wrap back in towards the frame at the bottom (not sure what they are called?)
    Campy 8 speed drive-train
    Eccentric BB
    Cannondale Aluminum fork
    36h American Classic wheel-set

Any suggestions are appreciated, especially with regards to the fork & wheelset, since they carry a bigger load than a standard road bike.
