ENVE Production Facility Tour

June 24th, 2011

Emiliano Jordan

On the eve of the release of ENVE’s groundbreaking 6.7 Smart System rims, I was allowed the privilege to tour ENVE’s main office and the attached production facility. Jake Pantone, ENVE’s Marketing Director, was kind enough to spend almost two hours guiding me through the development and production processes behind some of the most cutting edge (no pun intended) carbon components within the cycling industry. Kmc Black on Black DLC Chain

June 9th, 2011

Back during Interbike 2010 we reported on KMC’s new DLC coated chain that was available in black and red.  Now we have the limited edition Kmc X10SL DLC coated chain is available in full black.  That’s right, the limited edition black on red has been revamped for the coming year and is now available in black on black.  Same great performance as the standard X10SL, but without the color.  Due to the extremely high production cost of DLC coating the chains, these will be available only in limited quantities.  The DLC black on black chain will be available….. New Artist Series Fair Wheel Kits

May 25th, 2011

I’m really happy to announce the release of the first in a series of artist designed Fair Wheel Bikes kits.  The first kit comes to us from artist Hunter King.  Hunter is both a friend and a fabulous artist.  Hunter designed the first two kits for us without any instruction, we just gave him a concept which was that we wanted something with a bit of a retro feel.  Hunter took it from there and came up with this kit.   Feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think.  Also for those of you wanting to see more of Hunters work take a look at Read more

New Fair Wheel Location and employees.

May 5th, 2011

The first wheel build station is almost done, just a couple more to go.

Please note that we have some new phone numbers. First let me say that the original Fair Wheel location is not moving, it’s been in the same spot for 35 years and will be there for 35 more years.  But after 35 years, we have finally run out of space at the 6th st location.  Actually we ran out of space a couple years ago and just struggled with it.  That is no longer the case.  We have moved both our retail internet division and our distribution division offsite to a new building about half a mile from the original.   I also want to introduce some new employees that we are very excited to have joining us.  Read more

That conversation, which at the time seemed to be just a bit of day dreaming, has now turned into an actual reality for us. We are proud to announce that March 4th and 5th we’ll host the grand opening of Het Fair Wheel Podium in Portland Oregon.  A permanent gallery dedicated to innovation and art in cycling.  Read more

Weight Weenie Bike Builder Application

February 4th, 2011

Last year we partnered with Weight Weenies to revive the deceased weight listings.  In just under a year we’ve managed, with the help of the members, to collect and add about 3000 new components to the weight listings.  Now we’ve decided to take it a step further and find a way to put those listings to better use.  That better use is an interactive spreadsheet that you can download to your computer and use to build a virtual bike simply by making selections from lists.  Read more

Extralite MDX Mountain hub

August 23rd, 2010

Interbike prep has kept me away from the blog lately, but I felt I needed to make a little time to share this.  A prototype of the upcoming Extralite MDX hub arrived here last week.  While it does have some visual changes, the most dramatic changes are on the inside.   Read more
